Abstract

A two dimensional unsteady state dispersion of pollutant from different types
of point source i.e. instantaneous and step function type has been considered in
the present study. In the region of interest we initially assumed the wind speed
and diffusivity to be constant in the first interval and thereafter in second interval
due to the change in wind condition and diffusivity they are considered
to vary along the vertical height. Further, we also considered a delayed removal
mechanism in this situation. The present analytical model is used to obtain a
crosswind integrated concentration. The results so obtained are useful in understanding
the dispersion of pollutant when the wind velocity and coefficient of
diffusivity changes with time, especially in case of accidental release.
